A Mystery Building

We have received an interesting query from Cathy Dodson, archivist from the Royal Historical Society of Victoria.

She is currently working on a set of colour slides of Kilmore, taken in 1982 for the Kilmore Heritage Study. These slides are part of the “Butler Collection” of architectural heritage of Victoria.

One of the images of particular interest is included among other buildings in Fitzroy St, Kilmore.

The problem is that nobody in KHS recognises this building or the name attached. The name appears to be “Aherty”, but Brian Clancy has pointed out that the closest Kilmore name is Flaherty.

If the building actually was standing in Kilmore in 1982, somebody should remember it. So can anyone identify the building or the name?
